Your First Run

Balatro is about turning poker hands into huge scores. Every score is chips x mult, so you need both engines.

Core Priorities

  • Ante 1-2: grab any Joker that gives chips or mult on every hand.
  • Add xMult early: a single x2 doubles your entire score — value it over flat bonuses.
  • Empty your hand: every hand played is another chance to score and earn money.

Economy Rules of Thumb

  • Keep at least $25 in the bank for maximum interest (+$5 per round).
  • Open one Buffoon Pack per shop if you can afford it; Jokers are your main power source.
  • Reroll only when you have a plan for the missing piece.

Common Mistakes

  1. Hoarding money without spending — interest caps at $5, so extra cash is wasted.
  2. Chasing rare Jokers over synergy — check the tags, not the color.
  3. Ignoring deck fixing — Tarot cards that convert suits unlock flush builds for free.
